Best places to cheer for your runner
Eastern Parkway / Washington Avenue
Start Line & Mile 2
(Subway access via the 2 or 3 to Grand Army Plaza)
See the runners as they depart from the start, and then stick around to catch them again at mile 2 as they turn from Eastern Parkway and head down Washington Avenue. This location is right next to the Brooklyn Museum.
Flatbush Avenue / Empire Boulevard / Ocean Avenue Intersection
(Subway access via the Prospect Park stop on the Q)
See runners coming from Washington Ave. make quick right and a left to pick up Ocean Avenue at Mile 2.6, heading south along Prospect Park.
Miles 4 & 10
(Subway access via the F or G train to Fort Hamilton station)
Park Circle is at Mile 4 heading out toward Ocean Parkway and Mile 10 on the return. From here, walk up the west side of Prospect Park to enter the park at Bartel Pritchard Square/15th Street to see the runners as they pass Mile 12.6 (it's about a one-mile walk).
Miles 4-7 & 7-10
(Subway access via the F train to several stops east of Ocean Parkway on MacDonald)
Catch runners completing an out-and-back section of the course (Miles 4-7 heading south and 7-10 heading north). You can jump back on the F train to either the Fort Hamilton or 15th Street station to access Prospect Park and make your way to the finish line.
(Subway access via the F or G train to 15th Street/Prospect Park, or the Prospect Park stop on the Q)
After mile 10, all runners enter the park at Park Circle traveling counter-clockwise on the park drive. Pick a spot, any spot along the road to cheer. Note that half marathoners will leave the park drive at Center Drive and head to the finish line.
Marathon runners: While the half marathon runners turn on to Center Drive to the finish line, the marathon course continues south heading counter-clockwise on the park drive. A great place to see your runner on each of their five loops of the park is on the west side of park drive at Wellhouse Drive, just near the lake. Then when you have seen your runner for the final time, walk north then turn right on to Center Drive to meet them for their big finish.
The finish area for both the marathon and half marathon are located almost smack in the middle of Prospect Park. There is no public transportation to this area, so your best best is to walk along the park drive just inside the park (walk south if you're coming from Grand Army Plaza, the Brooklyn Museum, or Bartel Pritchard Square; walk north if you're coming from Park Circle or the south end of the park).
The major road intersecting the park is Center Drive. Head there and look for the fanfare!
